This Acer laptops is a Budget mini laptop with 8.9-inch screen, It is an attractive and lightweight mini notebook and offers solid performance. It has a 1024 x 600 pixel display and the 1.3 megapixel webcam above the screen comes in handy for anyone who wants to video chat with faraway friends and relatives. The Acer Aspire One is a budget mini notebook is a an 'Internet device' ideal for those who want a budget notebook to type and surf the Web.
Acer Aspire One is like the MSI Wind and the higher-end ASUS EeePC, equipped with the new Intel Atom 1.6 GHz N270 processor. The Aspire One that we have has a 120 GB hard drive with a three cell battery and a 9-inch display screen. It is one the smallest Netbooks and weighs almost the same as Asus EeePC or MSI.
It has a sleek glossy finish with contrasting colors on the tips of the hinges. It has a 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, with the aspect ratio of a normal wide-screen desktop. The glossy finish makes it a little difficult to use though the images are a little sharper. The base of the laptop slats towards the front and the keyboard has no inclination making it a little difficult to use.
The buttons on the touchpad are not very good as the mouse clicks, these are situated on either side of the Laptop making it difficult to use. It is a compact notebook, Acer has made the touchpad smaller than other netbooks. There is a thick bezel around the screen, the keyboard feels ok, and the keys are solid with good feedback. Compared with 10-inch EeePC and MSI Wind the keys are smaller. If Acer had squeezed the bezel around the screen it would have looked even more cramped and small.
With this bezel a 10- inch screen could have worked better. The speakers are not that good and the sound is flat though if you connect it with the headphones it is a little better. The laptop gets a little warm, it has 3 USB ports with 2 separate SD card readers
The Aspire One has a soft inner lined carry pouch with a small power adaptor. The Acer Aspire One equipped with the Linux version is very cheap. Priced at Rs 20,999, the 9-inch netbook equipped with a 3-cell battery, 120 GB HDD is value for money. Overall, this is an affordable netbook loaded with some great features.
