While PC computers have continued to be the primary computers for businesses and for personal use, the Mac computer has begun to grow in terms of its market share. As a result, some programs which were designed to be used on PCs are now being altered to work on Macs as well. Translation software for Mac computers can be difficult to come by and admittedly, SYSTRAN is only designed for Windows operating systems. However, this does not mean that those who want technical document translation on their Mac are out of luck or need a new computer.
The Good News about Compatibility
If you've been frustrated with the idea that you need to choose between Mac or Windows, you're not alone. However, technology is available to ensure you can use SYSTRAN's technical document translation software. With the Intel chip now installed in Mac computers, you can dual boot your computer to run both a Mac operating system and Windows. And in setting your computer up in this way, you will be able to run the SYSTRAN technical translator software without having to replace your entire system. Even if you're not completely certain how to dual boot your computer, your business' IT department can help you. As an added bonus, you'll be doubling the capabilities of your one computer.
How can Systran be a Mac compatible translator?
Apple started using Intel chips in the popular OS, which allows Mac computers to dual boot into a Windows enviroment. You will need Boot Camp, a software included with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard that lets you run compatible versions of Microsoft Windows on an Intel-based Mac.
You need to be sure your computer has the Intel chip, your instruction manual should show support for dual booting into Windows. Once you are in this enviroment you can run all the Windows applications you need.
You will not be able to run Mac and Windows OS at the same time but there are additional software programs that will give you this ability.
